about

A brilliant mind discovers the secret to accurate timekeeping and loses track of the time that matters most.

lyrics

Lord Kelvin, Worked alone in his lab,
Though he had fame and fortune,
They weren't the most important things he had,

It was the love of a fine woman,
The love of his life,
And in three days time they'd be wed and,
Spend the rest of their lives,
Together.

A breakthrough, something too small to see,
But it was so large, it would change the way time is perceived,

He worked all through the night,
And on through the next,
And when he finally emerged from his lab he'd found,
That his love had left.

And he swore, he'd never be late again,
And he'd find a way to make it a certainty,
And he swore, he'd never be late again,
And he'd never let his work come before his love,
If he found it again.

He was nighted, recognized for all his brilliance,
But through it all, it somehow didn't fulfill him,

He'd think back, to that summer day,
To the love of his life,
And how he'd give it all away if only,
To return his wife.

And he swore, he'd never be late again,
And he'd find a way to make it a certainty,
And he swore, he'd never be late again,
And he'd never let his work come before his love,
If he found it again.

Many years later, while roaming his grounds,
Reflecting on his achievements,
And counting his millions of pounds.

His mind drifts back to that summer day,
To the love of his life,
And how despite his greatest efforts he,
Never could quite make it right...

Still he swore, he'd never be late again,
And he'd find a way to make it a certainty,
And he swore, he'd never be late again,
And he'd never let his work come before his love...
